Letter H–My Cricut Craft Room Design Team

h

This week I am participating in the Letter of the Day with My Cricut Craft Room. The idea is that you create a cricut project using a cartridge that starts with the letter H, a cut that starts with H, or a technique or element that starts with H.  I designed to create a card using a Hedgehog cut.

There is a hedgehog cut on several cricut cartridges.  I choose to use the cut from Four Legged Friends. I didn’t use my gypsy for today’s card.  I do like to make projects sometimes just using the cartridge in my expression. In this case though I had to use the cartridge as I was borrowing the cartridge from my Mom. Love the fun animal cuts on the cartridge.

I cut the hedgehog at 3.5 inches using cardstock. I used a white gel pen to make the eye. The sentiment is stamped with the Hippie Chick Market Street Stamps set. To see more projects like mine, please visit Erica's blog http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com

WYEGW–Erica’s Craft Room

would you ever guess 2012

Have YOU ever wondered what Would You Ever Guess Wednesday is? On Wednesdays at My Craft Room the DT uses the feature keys ONLY on our cricut cartridges.... Or they might use a cake cartridge to make a paper creation or a regular cartridge to make a edible creation…

For my project today I used the Holiday Cakes cartridge and my gypsy to make my card.  I love the seasonal images on the Holiday Cakes cartridge. I wanted to make a cheery spring card so I choose the floral image on page 39/keypad button 12. I welded two of the plain shadow to make the card base. I cut the standard image out of green patterned paper.  I cut the shift key version of the image out of two different pink My Minds Eye patterned papers. I added some Studio G pink glitter glue to add a little bling to the card.

Book Review: First Date

I am not a reality tv show fan. I hate the fights and fake behavior. So I wasn’t sure about the premise of Krista McGee’s First Date. I wasn’t sure what to think of a Christian fiction book where a Christian teen would go on a reality show for the chance to get a date with the president’s son.  I was happily surprised. I really liked how Addy had the same concerns about the reality tv show that I had.  I thought that the story accurately depicted the reality behind the scenes of reality shows.

Addy came across as a real Christian teen would struggled in her walk. She wasn’t a super Christian she was someone who I could relate to.  She desired to honor God and share Jesus with others but her sarcasm and frustration would often get the better of her. However Addy was sucessfully able to share her faith with a friend in a loving way even though her friend didn’t change her point of view.

I really liked the development of the secondary character Kara.  She was a good contrast to Addy. I loved how Addy and Kara developed from roomates to friends through the course of the story.  I was excited to learn that the next book by Krista McGee would be about Kara. I am looking forward to reading it when it comes out this summer.

The story was a fast and fun read. I ended up staying up late one Saturday night to finish it. It was wonderful to read a book without heavy physical relationships.

10 Things on my Wish List from CHA–February 2012

Once again I am participating in Shimelle’s Ten Things. Shimelle shared 10 observations from CHA which has inspired me to share 10 things on my wishlist from CHA Winter 2012.  I epect never to be lucky enough to attend myself but always pay attention to the chatter about the new goodies. Here is my list in no particular order:

1. Tags, Bags, and More 2 Cricut Cartridge. I love the the cartridge has scoring lines and single line phrases built into the cartridge as features.

2. Tim Holtz Distress Markers – I particularly want the picket fence marker.  I wouldn’t  complain if someone bought me the whole set but it isn’t in my budget right now. See paperclipping video here.

3. Follow Your Heart Line from My Minds Eye – I love that they have 6x6 paper pads and stamps in the line. See the paperclipping viedo here.

4. Paper Layers by Megan Elizabeth – While not technical new it was at CHA and I would like to add this easy cutting machine paper to my collection. See the paperclipping video here.

5. EK Success Stamping Gear.  I think this would make very cool backgrounds. See the paperclipping video here.

6. Hero Arts A little Note Stamp set and the matching frame cuts See the Two peas Video here.

7.  Tim Holtz’s Compendium of Curiosities 2

8. Tim Holtz’s Texture Fades – Bubble and Honeycomb Set & Diamond Plate and Riveted Metal Set

Hybrid Cards with Study in Yellow and Grey

I love the cards that Lucy makes. She makes stunning hybrid cards.  I was inspired to make some hybrid cards of my own.

I love the look of stitching but don’t do well with sewing on paper. Digital stitches to the rescue. I have the look without having to fight with a sewing machine. (I play nicely with Paint Shop Pro).

WYEGW-My Cricut Craft Room

would you ever guess 2012

This week for my DT project I used the Tag Feature on the Cricut Circle French Manor Cartridge.  I used the tag to make a shaped card with the help of my gypsy.  I welded the tag layer that was the general shape for the card base and use the other cut for the card front. The paper for the card front from is from  K & Company.  I sprayed perfect pearls on it to give the card a shimmer. It shows up even more in real life.
